HAPPY NEW YEAR
COLUMBUS!
Winter in Columbus
is a yearly
highlight, and
another reason many
of us came to call
ourselves locals.
Yes, we had some
freezing weather and
bursting water pipes
to contend with for
a week or so, we
even had a White
Christmas this year
(as the picture
below can attest
too).

But already by News
Years Day the cold
snap had snapped,
and we're enjoying
some of the most
beautifully warm
late-mornings and
afternoons, purpled
twilight dusks, and
crispy cool star
filled nights. We
can all hope this a
portend of an early
and long Spring.
Typically winter is
the busy time of the
year for the
Village, as
the Snowbirds (RVer's),
flock here to escape
bitter winters in
the states to the
north and easterly
of our high desert
environment. We're
also seeing an
influx of
construction peoples
migrating here to
help build the new
Sapphire Energy Bio
Diesel Algae Farm
located just 9 miles
west of Columbus,
and due to a long
quarantine during
the Fall, we've got
a wintertime
cattle-crossing
season at the border
this year.
Looking forward,
2012 could well
prove to be breakout
year of growth and
opportunity for our
village and
community as the new
$52,000,000 Port Of
Entry facility is
back on track for
construction, the
Columbus area could
be chosen for a
gigantic fake city
to be located for an
urban testing
facility, and who
knows, maybe, just
maybe, our March
elections will give
way to a smart,
ethical, and
pro-active Village
government.
Yep, 2012 could be a
new beginning for
Columbus. Now is the
time for every
citizen to find a
way to help ensure
that our darkest
days are behind us,
and have given way
to a better and
brighter future for
us all.
